The Lakson Group, was founded in 1954. Lakson Group is a well-known business group in Pakistan. The conglomerate is run by the Lakhani brothers among whom Iqbal Ali Lakhani is Chairman of the Lakson group. His siblings are Amin Lakhani, Sultan Lakhani and Zulfiqar Lakhani. Its head office is located at Karachi, Sind, Pakistan. The Volvo Group is a Swedish supplier of commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses and construction equipment, drive systems for marine and industrial applications, aerospace components and financial services. Although Volvo was incorporated in 1915 as a subsidiary of AB SKF, a Swedish ball bearing manufacturer, the auto manufacturer was officially founded on 14 April 1927, when the first car rolled off the factory in Hisingen, Gothenburg. [2]
Volvo means "I roll" in Latin, conjugated from "volvere" (cp the ball bearing producer SKF). The name Volvo was originally registered in May 1911 as a separate company within SKF AB and as a registered trademark with the intention to be used for a special series of ball bearing, but this idea was only used for a short period of time and SKF decided to use "SKF" as the trademark for all its bearing products.
In 1924, Assar Gabrielsson, a SKF Sales Manager, and Engineer Gustav Larson, the two founders, decided to start construction of a Swedish car. Their vision was to build cars that can withstand the rigors of Sweden's rough roads and cold temperatures. This becomes a feature of Volvo products ever since. [3]
The company AB Volvo had no activities until 10 August 1926, after one year of preparations involving the production of ten prototypes, was set up to carry out the car-manufacturing business within the SKF group. Volvo AB was introduced at the Stockholm stock exchange in 1935 and SKF then decided to sell its shares in the company. Volvo was delisted from NASDAQ in June 2007, but remains listed on the Stockholm exchange.[4]
The first series produced Volvo automobile, the Volvo ÖV 4, left the factory on 14 April 1927 which became the official date for the founding of Volvo.
In 1999 Volvo sold its car division Volvo Cars to Ford for $6.45 billion. Repeated reports in the media about Ford selling off Volvo Cars have been refuted by the company.[5] However, on 1 December 2008, Ford announced that it will "re-evaluate its strategic options for Volvo", including the possible sale of the marque.[6]

The company is named after its founder Shozo Kawasaki and has no connection with the city of Kawasaki, Kanagawa.
Its most visible consumer product lines are its motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles, although the company and its subsidiaries also manufacture personal watercraft, ships, industrial plants, tractors, trains, small engines, and aerospace equipment (including military aircraft). Subcontract work on jet aircraft (including jumbo jets) has been done for Boeing, Embraer, and Bombardier.

Paki Suzuki Motors Ltd. is a company assembling and distributing Suzuki Japan's cars in Pakistan. Currently they are one of the most successful motor companies in Pakistan.
The firm was founded in 1983 as a joint venture between PAK and Suzuki, formalising the arrangement by which Awami Auto Ltd. had produced the Suzuki SS80 from 1982. Suzuki originally owned 25% of the stock, and have gradually increased their holding; they now own 73.09%. The company now assembles a wide range of Suzuki vehicles and aims to produce 150,000 vehicles per year. (2005 production was 100,000).

The Millat Tractors Limited (MTL) was established in 1964 to introduce and market Massey Ferguson Tractors in Pakistan. An assembly plant was set up in 1967 to assemble tractors in semi-knocked down (SKD) condition.
The company was nationalized in 1972 and started assembling and marketing tractors on behalf of Pakistan Tractor Corporation (PTC) which was formed by the Government for import of tractors in SKD condition. In 1980, the Government decided on indigenization of the tractors and entrusted this task to Pakistan Tractor Corporation.
Pakistan Tractor Corporation transferred this role of indigenization in 1981 to Millat Tractors Limited. Just in one year's time, the company took a giant step towards self-reliance by setting up the first engine assembly plant in Pakistan.
Therefore, in 1984, sophisticated manufacturing facilities for the machining of intricate components were set up. These were previously not available in Pakistan. Currently, critical components like the engine block, sump, transmission case, axle housing, hydraulic lift cover, front axle support and centre housing are all being machined most successfully in-house at Millat Tractors from local-sourced castings.
In 1992, the company was privatized. Millat Tractors plant started its production in 1992. The establishment of this modern plant not only increased production capacity to 16,000 tractors per year on a single-shift basis, but also provided a quantum jump to the quality of the assembled tractors and pushed Millat Tractors Limited into the ranks of the major tractor manufacturing companies of the World.

The Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC) is a joint venture between the House of Habib , Toyota Motor Corporation, Japan (TMC), and Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Japan (TTC) for assembling, progressive manufacturing and marketing of Toyota vehicles in Pakistan since July 1, 1990. Indus Motor Company is engaged in sole distributorship of Toyota and Daihatsu Motor Company Limited vehicles in Pakistan. The Indus Motor Company was incorporated in Pakistan as a public limited company in December 1989 and started production in May 1993. Indus Motor company's plant is the only manufacturing site in the world where both Toyota and Daihatsu brands are being manufactured. Indus Motor Company production facilities are located at Port Bin Qasim Industrial Zone near Karachi. The shares of company are quoted on the stock exchanges of Pakistan. Currently Production Capacity of IMC Plant is 200 Cars per day. Mr Ali Habib is the Chairman and Former CEO of IMC. Now Mr Pervaiz Ghayas (PG) is the CEO of IMC. Mr Hamid Rasul is General Manager Product Development. Y. Araey is Vice Chairman of IMC. Indus Motor Company is the market leader in 1000+cc Sedans in the Pakistan. The Hinopak Motors Limited was formed in 1985 by a diverse group of sponsors. These included Hino Motors Limited, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Japan, Al-Futtaim group, U.A.E. and PACO. In 1998, Hino Motors, and Toyota Tsusho Corporation obtained majority shareholding in the company after disinvestments by the other two founding sponsors.
Hinopak Motors assembles, manufactures and markets Hino diesel trucks and buses in Pakistan. Hinopak Motors has gained 70% market share making it the largest manufacturer in medium and heavy-duty truck and bus industry in Pakistan. Hinopak Motors Head Office is located in S.I.T.E, Karachi, Sind, Pakistan.
